:: RUNAMOK FARM? RUNAMOK MAMA? ::
Web introductions can be so... uniform... and, frankly, while that can be "comforting", it also tends to be a little boring. I am not a fan of "boring" and conformity is NOT what this Mama is about! So, I will get the fundamentals quickly out of the way, and then you can meet the "real" us!
"RunAmok Mama" may sound a tad alarming - especially to all the amazing, super-organized families out there! Let me assure you, life here at RunAmok Farm is more an exercise of "controlled chaos" than sheer, out-n-out pandemonium... Of course, for some, that may not be overly reassuring!
My most important role is as Wife and Help-meet to my very best friend, Dan. Second, I am a natural-minded Mama to four amazing, rambunctious children! Then, I fill a whole "buncha" different positions, such as: Teacher, Natural-Rearing breeder, Pet SARF Dietary Consultant, Artist, Trim Healthy Mama Admin, Dog Trainer, Farm-hand, Huntress, Business Entrepreneur... the list goes on for miles!
We live on a smallish hobby farm, deep in the wild paradise of Northern Idaho. Ever-present, our Australian Shepherds enjoy tending (herding... e'hem) the goats, free-range chickens, rabbits and various farm critters. As breeders of the exceptionally rare, "Naturally-Reared" Australian Shepherd, my husband and I share over 50 years combined experience, and have produced 38 litters of gorgeous, healthy, family-oriented puppies - spanning 3 adult generations! The results are nothing short of amazing.
Our family is focused on becoming "Trim & Healthy"... after all, being fit is not just for Mama! Happily, this goes hand in hand with what we have been practicing for generations in our dogs... so even our naturally-reared Australian Shepherds fit the bill as "Trim & Healthy" Canines!
:: WHAT IS "NATURAL REARING"? ::
NATURAL REARING is simply getting back to basics with our pets. If I recommended you and your family only eat bagged, canned or boxed foods, you would immediately recognize that I had no understanding of nutrition - In fact, you might even try and set me straight - because you know fresh foods are healthiest and can be utilized by our bodies far more readily than any "product"...
Why then, do we fall for the pet food manufacturers' marketing hype - knowing they spend millions to market this very idea that our pets should only eat a packaged product... It seems illogical to "bite" - especially when we know they literally make billions each year in profit?
The idea that eating the same, processed product, day after day, year after year, could ever be healthier than real, fresh food is... ludicrous... Yet, this concept is what most veterinarians have been taught throughout their time in vet school! Worse, this concept is then, whole-heartedly, recommended to their clients over the span of these veterinarians' careers.
Our NR program has been in place over 3 generations of animals, so we know, first-hand, the results of real food... We also have seen, first-hand, the horrific results of "kibble" fed to generations of dogs and cats. The damage done is an absolute travesty.
I served as the Nutrition Specialist for a successful pet supplement company, personally consulting for their most complicated, special-need clients. Many of these animals had multiple health issues, such as renal failure, diabetes, and severe allergies - all in the same pet! I was able to experience, first-hand, the healing benefits of a natural diet and proper supplementation -- for clients with no hope, otherwise.
For a time-investment of only an hour or two for basic research, you can learn to feed your family companion a natural, "species-appropriate" diet!
Once you have the fundamentals down, take an additional hour for extended "homework", and you will also have the know-how to provide chemical-free care for you 4-legged family member!
RunAmok Farm is the place to find Natural-Rearing and alternative health care information for your "4-leggers"!
