Craving BREAD... but getting away from high-carb foods? This is a tasty twist on our RunAmok Mama's Better Than Bagels, these easy garlic bread sticks are satisfying and very versatile!
you can just thank me now...
Of course, I am sure most Trim Healthy Mama group members have seen the recent craze: Wholesome Yum's Low Carb Bagels with Almond Flour... Anything that goes wild on THM's facebook groups can be considered "viral" for all intents and purposes!
On its own merit, it is a terrific recipe and the ingredients fall into the "S" category for Trim Healthy Mama, so the craze is pretty much a no-brainer!
Now, as is often the case since THM does not have a set upper limit for fatty foods, we can sometimes get a little too crazy, forgetting that at some point foods which are calorie-dense can stall our weight-loss progress.
Since I love to eat, I decided it would be best if I could lighten this up a bit - so I substituted Trim Healthy Mama Baking Blend and Trim Healthy Mama Oat Fiber in place of some of the almond flour and made a few other adjustments as well. *This is where I hope no one notices that I promptly slather butter on my lightened up version.
These are SO good! I was going to show some self restraint... but...
In our busy state, taking time for ourselves may feel counter-productive...
Many of my readers here, as well as in my FB group (Creation's Bounty) tend to be self-sufficient, hard-working, do-everything kind of folks. This often equates to crazy-busy schedules and we rarely take time to pamper ourselves...
I used the word, "pamper"... anyone laughing hysterically yet?
While we SHOULD take some time for ourselves just because we need it, sometimes our sense of duty doesn't allow for that. We have things to do and people relying on us! Who has time for frivolous anything?? I am not talking week-long spa sessions... but simple "for us" moments throughout the day, to focus on our own health and goals.
Taking care of ourselves leaves us better equipped to care for others, at home or out and about. Our better health affects those around us positively. Did you read that? Taking time to focus on your health will benefit you as well as those around you.
Don't feel guilty for taking some time for YOU each day - even if only for a few minutes here and there.
Are you eating healthy? Taking a few minutes to plan your meals and snacks can keep you on track! Providing the right fuel for your body will give you sustained energy, promote a trim body, and keep your mood even and... pleasant. It may come as a surprise, but I am not pleasant if I am not eating healthy. (Trim Healthy Mama has been a life-saver for me!)
Are you exercising? I don't mean "killing yourself", I mean simple, short bursts of exercise. This is healthy, natural and better for you than prolonged, strenuous, unnatural work-outs. (We will be talking more about this in the coming weeks.)
How are you caring for yourself today?
Time to plan for harvest parties and family reunions...
There are a million pumpkin recipes floating about, but as my husband is one of "those people" (despises pumpkin) , I have exercised a modicum of restraint... but for a traditional fall-feel, I did pull together a small harvest-themed recipe round-up... some of which include pumpkin.
These recipes vary in complexity... but all will tantalize your taste-buds! For fun, try my Harvest Spice recipe in place of store-bought pumpkin spice - it is sure to be a hit! Happy harvesting!
NOTHING WARMS YOUR HEART LIKE A TASTY SPICE BLEND...
A slight chill teases the morning air, fall harvest is in full swing, and family gatherings are just around the corner. Whether cooking for yourself, or for a crowd, putting your own special touch on a traditional spice blend can be surprisingly gratifying!
"RunAmok Mama's Harvest Spice" replaces store-bought "pumpkin spice", melding fresh, deep, comforting fall flavors and taking your favorite baked goods and savory dishes to that next-level-deliciousness. Pumpkin, apple, and peach pies will entice! Cobblers, crisps, crumbs, cookies, muffins and tarts will tantalize! Spiced shrinkers, sippers, coffee and tea will warm tummies and soothe souls...
This base recipe can be easily tweaked to please individual taste buds. Some may prefer more allspice, others less nutmeg, others may omit cloves. Have fun and experiment! Anticipate this new season, play with your recipes... and ENJOY!
Measure all spices into a clean container, place lid on tightly, then shake until spices are thoroughly mixed. Use in place of "pumpkin" spice. *I prefer storing in a glass jar, in a cool, dark cupboard.
Happily, oh so happily, Rhubarb season is upon us!
Rhubarb seems an old fashioned", perhaps intimidating "vegetable", thus is sadly overlooked by younger cooks. If you have not yet experimented with rhubarb, yer missin' out! Thankfully, in many circles this delightful plant is making a comeback and, by mid-season, will be easily found in many grocery stores.
For those of us who regularly cook with rhubarb, opportunity to harvest it fresh is exciting business, indeed! We will gleefully churn out pies, cakes, muffins, jams, syrups... and ice cream -- until late summer, when we will frantically begin restocking our freezers for the winter season!
For now... just... "Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
My rhubarb patch is growing out of control! Because of this, my family and friends will tell you that rhubarb must be incredibly easy to grow... and my husband may, with a sly grin, mumble something about my "black thumb of death". (I do not know what they are insinuating...)
Truly, since this is one of the only plants I can grow almost effortlessly, I am happy to report a long harvest season and a bountiful yield! To share the joy, this year I gave out some root-stock to some lucky friends - so they should each have a small harvest later this summer... In the next couple years, they should be able to divide their plants!
This year, I started off with several batches of creamy, tangy-sweet ice-cream, some tasty-o-licious smoothies, and this incredible syrup - which can be used for pancakes, or in muffins, mixed into cream cheese... Don't worry... I will be sharing the syrup recipe soon!
Back on-track... This Rhuberry Ice Cream will tantalize, is simple to make, and we even skipped the Ice Cream maker and used an "Ice Cream" ball -- to show you just how easy this can be! You can use your electric ice cream maker, if you feel so inclined - just follow manufacturer instructions.
If you are following Trim Healthy Mama, this Ice Cream recipe is an "S".
Get ready to swoon... These satisfying cheesecake "truffles" are easy to whip up, and incredibly tasty!
If you are new to THM, the idea that such deliciousness is "on plan" is a shocker! If you have been following THM for awhile, this is almost "old news"... Almost...
If you are beyond the "newbie" stage, you are likely following some incredible, THM-friendly blogs, such as:
"Mrs. Criddle's Kitchen", "A Home With Purpose, "Briana Thomas", "Gwen's Nest", "All Day I Dream About Food", "Darcie's Dishes", "Counting All Joy", "Wonderfully Made And Dearly Loved", "Nana's Little Kitchen", "Oh Sweet Mercy", "Rohnda Sue", "Simply Healthy Home", "Working At Homeschool", "Anointed With Oil Of Joy", "The Fabuless Wife", "The Coers Family", "Bethany's Notions", and more!
So... yeah... What I am saying is, if you are frequenting these blogs, then foods which rock your taste-buds into the next realm really are "old news". BUT don't let your over-flowing recipe box keep you from trying these little gems!
Hope you enjoy!
You a Trim Healthy Mama, or wanna be? This is "on plan".
THIS IS AN "S"! Enjoy as a dessert after a delicious S meal, or as a Satisfying snack, all on its own! Take a few minutes, whip this up... and you can thank me later.
Easy-Cheesy, low-carb GOODNESS...
When my husband and I married, I was a TERRIBLE cook. Thankfully, no one had told him to look for a woman who knew her way around the kitchen! Due to his poor choice, he was forced to survive on boxed rice and noodle dishes, canned soups and chili, hot dogs and store-bought pizzas. Now, to balance my otherwise awful "domestic skills", I did bake some pretty mean cookies... but it was a sad existence.
We had a friend known, coast to coast, for her delicious meals - especially desserts. She and her husband were less-than-healthy, but he always had a big grin on his face as the fellows swooned over his wife's cooking... My beloved was certainly not the only husband who perked up at the mention of a fellowship dinner! She worked magic in the kitchen, that was clear!
I really did want to be a good cook, and after much time buried under piles of cookbooks, I was finally able to hold my own with a few tasty dishes! Soon, I was turning out some really great meals... but unfortunately, these were also contributing to weight-gain... I had started off my marriage "chunky", so this was not good!
Though I was placing great emphasis on "healthy" foods, the scale kept ticking upward. (At age 41, Trim Healthy Mama saved the day!)
Happily, after some tweaking to fit the THM plan, our family-favorites still taste incredible -- but now they are slimming, trimming and contributing to better health! Take a look at the meal below... This would fit as an "S" meal, for Trim Healthy Mama... and YUM is it ever Satisfying!
Quick, easy and super-delish!

I am on a shortcake kick, can you tell?
If you have not tried my Strawberry Shortcake recipe, you should. It is a guilt-free "FP" for Trim Healthy Mama -- though, truthfully, there is NEVER any "guilt" with mealtime when following THM, is there?
If you are looking for a filling but "lighter" snack or meal, this Raspberry Shortcake falls into the FP category - so is low in both fats and carbs - Making it a sure "waist-trimmer"! The sweet-tart of the raspberries baked right into the delicate, semi-sweet shortcake and topped with creamy, protein-rich, stevia-sweetened Greek Yogurt will make your taste-buds dance with joy!

Some kind of diet, huh?
Are you out of THM Baking Blend??
If you have read my glowing REVIEW on the Trim Healthy Mama Baking Blend, you know I highly recommend it. It is, truly, sheer AWESOMENESS in a bag! Really.
Due to its versatility and immense popularity, this Baking Blend has been, on occasion... <whispers>... "Out Of Stock". This could, potentially, send a person into that deep, dark, inky-black blackness of despair -- especially if they have plans for "RunAmok Mama's Strawberry Shortcake" or the "Luscious Lemon Cake", found on page 289 of the new Trim Healthy Mama Plan!
Trim Healthy Mama took a lot of time and expense to develop this exceptional product; as a proprietary blend, some of the ingredients were processed in such a way as to produce a "lighter" product, fitting the "FP" category. *If you are following Trim Healthy Mama, you will know that "FP" stands for "Fuel Pull", and simply means an ingredient or food item which is low in both fats and carbohydrates.
Because this product is so sought after, I regularly see people share "copy-cat" recipe versions of the Baking Blend. Unfortunately, most copy-cat recipes cause confusion and some contribute to weight-loss stalls as they are, nutritionally, way off the mark from the real Baking Blend.
I am sharing a recipe here that I think you will all enjoy. Now, as a disclaimer, this is NOT the recipe for "THE" Baking Blend... however, for someone who wants to try their hand at making their "own" baking mix, this is pretty EPIC. Trust me.
Ok, so I am just going to come right out and say it... Trim Healthy Mama's Baking Blend is "da bomb!"
Really, it just IS.
This gluten-free, low-glycemic baking mix promotes a trim waistline while packing a nutritional punch and promoting healthy digestion. Easy on blood sugar, and light on calories, this blend is convenient, delicious, satisfying and makes baking healthy goodies an absolute snap!
As it well-should, the new Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook features this Baking Blend in approximately 15% of the 350 recipes - so while not necessary for your weight-loss success, this is certainly a terrific "add" to your THM kitchen!
Versatile, this blend can be used in sweet or savory desserts or dishes! You can find this used in such recipe greats as: "Luscious Lemon Cake", "Chocolate Skinny Chip Muffin", "Apple Cinnamon Swirl Muffin", "Glosted Raspberry Muffins", "Chocolate Truffle Cake", "Raspberry Chocolate Truffle Cake", "Glazed Crumb Cake", "Time For Lime Cake", "Believe It Or Not Chocolate Chip Cookies", "Key Lime Pie", "Zapple Crumble", "Meadow's Lemon Coconut Truffles", "Chicken Pot Pie", "Cornbread Crusted Mexican Pie", "Spinach and Sausage Quiche", "Tuscan Sausage and Egg Bake", "Mama's Famous Meatloaf", "Super Salmon Patties", "Fried Breaded Fish", "Swiss Bread", "Cheddar Herb Biscuits", "Trim Corn Bread", "Perfect Pizza", "Bring On Da Buttah Pancakes", "Welcome Back Waffles", "Powdered Cinnamon Sugar Donuts", "Chocolate Drizzled Donuts, "Jelly Donuts"... Well, you get the idea!
What if you don't have this amazing, super-awesome-deliciousness?? <insert lip quiver>
Well... You may find yourself sitting quietly, tears pooling in your eyes and tracing lonely little streaks down your face, chest heaving with pent up sobs... and a deep, dark, inky-black blackness of despair may settle all around you. Now, please note the "may"... but who wants to risk this?

With the long holiday weekend coming up, I know many of you will be eager to break out that grill once more! Mouthwatering, satisfying fun! Your holiday experience will be complete when you enjoy this awesomely "authentic" camp-food!
Super-versatile, S-Bombs can be served as a stand-alone meal, or accompany all the goods of a full-on BBQ... Either way... JUST... YUM.
For all the allure, S-Bombs are simple to prepare, and can be cooked over the grill, in the oven, or even IN A CAMP FIRE! Depending upon how you tweak these, the recipe can be S or even fit as an E for Trim Healthy Mama... So be excited... Very exited!
Considering fire-season has been harsh for many areas, that campfire idea may have to wait until late spring or early summer... If your area is at high-risk of fire, please don't go all "crazy-camper" and start a wildfire! In the meanwhile, I am giving the directions for cooking on a BBQ grill. In a pinch, this can be easily adapted to a regular oven.
